Moka is an internationally recognized serial social entrepreneur and Ashoka Fellow with 20 years experience in health delivery and health care management. Five years ago, he founded MicroClinic Technologies, a Nairobi-based company that developed Kenya’s leading health enterprises management system (EMR) for clinics and hospitals, which Moka has successfully scaled to over 60 health facilities in Kenya and to one in Liberia. His technology has attracted partnerships with Boehringer Ingelheim, Philips East Africa, Microsoft East Africa, SAP, GSK, Pfizer Foundation, and Huawei Technologies Ltd, and is the preferred EMR for the UNFPA-driven Every Woman Every Child project in Kenya with the hope of serving 1,000,000 patients annually. Currently, MicroClinic Technologies is developing a new healthcare app called iSikCure.
Moka is recipient of numerous international awards, including the 2014 Sankalp Award, the 2013 and 2015 GSK-Save the Children Healthcare Innovation Award, and was runner up for the 2014 IFC/Financial Times Sustainable Business Award.
He obtained his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Yaoundé in Cameroon; a Diploma in Nutrition and International Child Health from Uppsala University in Sweden and a doctorate in Pharmacology from the University of Rochester in the USA. He is also a graduate of the Masters in Health Care Management at the Harvard School of Public Health.
