Metropolis
The monumental silent film of German expressionism filmed by Fritz Lang is set in a futuristic metropolis with a pronounced dual-class society. This science fiction flick was the first feature-length film of its genre. It was one of the most expensive films at the time and is considered a key work in film history. (1927 / 2010)

I'll be back! The first Terminator was released in 1984– a B-movie that turned into a sci-fi cult classic and paved the way for Arnold Schwarzenegger as a Hollywood heavy.
